Pauliina Veijalainen
Pauliina Veijalainen
Scrum Master, Software Developer

Let’s start with your background, what kind of study or work background do you have?

My previous career was with e-Learning business, and I have a degree in pedagogy. I was interested in modern software development, especially agile methods, and continued studying the field, which led me to an internship at Aitomation in 2019. I have been working here ever since.

What kind of things does your typical work week include?

I divide my week between Scrum Master chores and software development. I’m currently involved in three different projects. I lead Scrum events and take care that developers are aware of their priorities, and they don’t have any blockers in their work. In development work together with my colleagues we plan how to advance the backlog items – and then start working on those.

What motivates you in your work?

I’m motivated by doing the right things in a right way. I think that is in the core of Aitomation’s promise for our customers. Learning new things also motivates me.

How has your learning been supported at Aitomation?

I’ve been given opportunities to expand my initial software development role into project management. As a developer I’ve been able to work in teams with experienced colleagues from whom it’s possible to learn new ways to do things. Aitomation has also encouraged all employees to get certifications in software development.

What do you look for in a potential new colleague?

I admire people who are passionate about what they are doing and are eager to learn new things. They either are already good at what they do or will become such. This fits well together with one of Aitomation’s values, curiosity.

What are the things that you would say to convince a person to apply for a position at Aitomation?

Aitomation has low hierarchy, and you have the possibility to develop yourself and the way the company works. Our business promise is exciting: making things flow. If that speaks to, you can definitely live up to it here.

I’ve studied industrial management and graduated as an engineer in 2019. I’ve started as a trainee in June 2021 and continued as a consultant after that.

Currently I work in one automation project where we help the client streamline their back-office tasks. Technologies I’ve used include low-code tools like Microsoft PowerAutomate and programming languages such as C# and Python.

What motivates you in your work?

Problem-solving and learning new things.

How has your learning been supported at Aitomation?

Technology-wise I’ve had the possibility to work with different technologies. I’ve also been encouraged to get certificates I find relevant in my work.

What do you look for in a potential new colleague?

Willingness to learn as technologies evolve at such a rapid pace.

What are the things that you would say to convince a person to apply for a position at Aitomation?

We don’t have much bureaucracy, which I find important. If you have ideas for development, they are considered no matter who proposes them. Aitomation also supports professional development e.g. by offering certificate trainings and offering possibilities to influence the projects you work on to widen your expertise.
